Call for Entries: Across the Field – An Artistic Tribute
Artists are invited to submit works for "Across the Field: An Artistic Tribute," a juried exhibition honoring the spirit of The Ohio State University. This show will showcase artistic interpretations of campus life, traditions, and landscapes, all reflecting the energy and pride of being a Buckeye.
We welcome 2D original art submissions, in mediums including, but not limited to: painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, encaustics, and mixed media. Artwork should embody the essence of OSU through depictions of its architecture, student experiences, landscapes, or beloved traditions.
Eligibility:
- Participation is open to all artists age 18+.
- All artwork must relate to the theme and be original.
Jurors:
Fred Fochtman is a representational oil painter, art restorer and painting instructor working in Columbus, Ohio. Fred is an OSU graduate and 16 year member of the Faculty Club Art Committee at The Ohio State University. He has had the honor of being a juror for many visual art competitions throughout Ohio.
Sharon Weiss, owner of the Sharon Weiss fine art Gallery in the Short North in Columbus Ohio for 31 years.
Submission Guidelines:
- Each artist may submit up to 3 works.
Artwork should be ready to display (framed or otherwise professionally presented, wired for hanging).
- Accepted works must be delivered in person.
- Artworks must not exceed 30 lbs. Pieces must not exceed 4 ft wide or 5 ft in height.
Pieces must have a hanging wire securely installed (sawtooth hangers not permitted).
- 3D artworks requiring pedestals will not be accepted.
- Mailed/shipped pieces cannot be accepted due to staff capacity/storage capacity. The Faculty Club is not responsible for any shipping or handling. The Faculty Club cannot be responsible for storage of packaging materials or for shipping/packing labor due to limited staffing capacity.
- The Faculty Club reserves the right to reject any accepted artwork that does not meet the guidelines, is deemed unsafe, or differs from the artist's photo(s) and/or description.
- Accepted work must remain on display through the end of the exhibition.
- 20% of the sale price will be retained by the Faculty Club on all sales.
- Artists whose sales exceed $600 will be required to complete a W-9 form.
- All artwork will be insured by The Faculty Club from drop-off to pick-up.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your entries via the form below.
Digital submissions must include:
- High-quality images of each artwork (JPEG or PNG at least 1MB in size). Photos should be cropped to show only the artwork, no frame.
- Title, medium, dimensions, and price of each piece.
- A brief artist statement (150 words max) explaining how the piece connects to The Ohio State University.

Submission Deadline: July 6, 2025. Submissions END at 11:59 PM
- Notification of Acceptance: July 12, 2025
- Artwork Delivery: Accepted artwork must be dropped off at the Faculty Club
- Friday, August 8, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm
- Saturday, August 9, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Exhibition Dates: August 11 – October 23, 2025
- Opening Reception: Friday, August 22, 2025, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
- Artwork pick-up:
- Friday, October 24, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm
- Saturday, October 25, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm
